So, I have a couple of emails asking me – WHAT IS IT EXACTLY LIKE TO BE A BUSINESS STUDENT?
So, first of all, thank you for asking me this and I am glad to share my views on this. A business student is someone who deals with marketing, business, accounts, economics basically. If you are a business student in India, you will definitely have Marketing, Accounts, Economics, Business, and English as your core subjects.
You are going to spend your time learning how to work in a group for sure because business is all about how to work in a team and grow. So, your college will have many team challenges set up for you.
I also have an online degree in Entrepreneurship from Harvard and my experience was way different there. I am also pursuing Digital Marketing Course from Duke Continuing Studies, it is an online course so if you are willing to take it, go for it.
Due to this pandemic situation, team challenges are affected drastically. I am actually a BBA student and trust me when I say it that BBA students are not taken seriously in India. But this should not stop you from pursuing it. I know that you need a graduate degree for doing MBA and it can be any graduate degree, but I will say that go for BBA and then do MBA. You will learn way more in BBA that will actually help you in MBA and during the final year of BBA, you are actually given a choice of whether you want to get a graduate degree from Marketing or Accounts or Economics or Business and it will 100% help you with your MBA admissions too.
But in the end, it is your choice about how you want to graduate. You can even get an engeneering degree and then pursue an MBA, so it is your choice completely.
Being a business student means that you will spend most of your time in team activities, a ton of PowerPoint Presentations, and dozen of assignments.
Besides this, you need to put on some effort from your side too. For example: Be updated about the stock markets, look forward to successful businesses and ownerships, look up to the best CEOs and Entrepreneurs, Look forward to the way companies use advertising mechanisms, and so on.
I have read a ton of Business Books and I highly suggest to read the books that successful CEOs and Entrepreneurs suggest.
Some of my personal favorites are The One Thing, Crush It, Atomic Habits.
I hope you have got your answer. Also, feel free to ask your questions in the comments.
Lots of love. Stay Safe.
