We all get a million thoughts in a day! Some of which are positive and some are negative. Positive thinking is the practice of focusing on the good in any given situation. It is also observed that thinking negative/bad is much easier than thinking positively.
Here’s a small test that will help you decide whether you are a positive person or a negative one.
Test 1: Imagine that you are in the hospital for a yearly medical checkup you are all done with your tests and now you’re waiting for your reports. Suddenly your doctor walks in with a report! So, do you think your medical reports will be all fine or you think you might have some health issues?
If you thought that your reports will be okay and you are all fine then you are a positive person but if you thought that your reports will have some kind of issues and that your health is not well then you are a negative person.
Test 2: Now imagine that it’s midnight around 2:00 AM and suddenly your phone rings! Do you think it’s your friend who is calling to just have a talk with you or he/she is calling because they are in some trouble and need your help?
If you thought that your friend is just calling to have a chat with you, then you are a positive person but if you thought that your friend is calling because they might be in some trouble, then you’re a negative person.
The thing is whether you chose the positive options or the negative ones, there is nothing wrong with you. If you are a pessimist it means that you are already ready for bad things or the consequences that might happen and you are ready for them and it can be helpful in many cases too.
There is nothing wrong with being a pessimist. But the thing is when you think positive, positive things are more likely to happen with you.
If you are a person who smiles every day then you are less likely to have any diseases. If you smile at an unknown person you are making them smile too. You don’t believe me? Just go and meet a small kid and see them play. You’ll automatically smile when you’ll see that kid giggle and smile.
It is also found in a study that when you smile, your body is releasing a lot of good hormones in your body and suspending the negative or the stress hormones. You are less likely to have BP issues if you are a positive person. There’s no harm in being a pessimist but there are a ton of benefits in being an optimist.
*If you are a pessimist, welcome to the club. I myself am a pessimist but nowadays I am learning to be an optimist. I’ll be sharing my tips and my journey from being a pessimist to an optimist. Positive and Negative thoughts are all in your own mind but external circumstances like music, crowd, etc can also affect your thoughts.
If you’re listening to low pitch music, you’re most likely to feel sad or feel a little most sensitively and react in the same way. But on the other hand, if you listen to high pitch music you’re more likely to feel energetic and more confident and react in that way.
The same is said for the crowd you’re in. If you are surrounded by a group of energetic and confident people, you’re more likely to be like then, i.e; Energetic and Confident. But if you are surrounded by people who are Self-Conscious and Doubtful then you are more likely to be like them.
Negative thinking often leads to anxiety, stress, and depression! So, it’s your call to whether or not you want to be a positive person and have good mental health.
Negative thinking isn’t bad but getting negative thoughts all day, seeing negative in everything is wrong. Negative thinking is something we have inherited from our ancestors and it also helps us in difficult times. So, if you’re a pessimist, it doesn’t mean that you have to change your habits completely. Instead, you have to start seeing positive things around you. Both Negative and Positive thoughts are equally helpful and hazardous sometimes. Still being positive is more beneficial than being negative.
There is always something to be grateful for every day. You just have to open your eyes and take a deep breath and let all the tension fly away.
Being Positive isn’t pretending that everything is good!
Being Postive means seeing the good in everything that is happening!
So, let’s lift up everyone together. Share this blog if you think this was useful and please subscribe to the newsletter. See ya!!
